The ‘ River Circle ‘ sculpture, made from stainless steel ‘jigsaw’ sections, is sited on the banks of the River Arun in Littlehampton, East Sussex and contains plant and animal imagery derived from the local estuarine environment where the river enters the sea.
Historically Littlehampton was a thriving commercial dock importing timber and raw materials from Northern Europe.
The sculpture forms the central focus of a new square, which is part of a development that has preserved the historic buildings as well as providing new housing, a Youth Hostel and a Sea Life Centre, thereby contributing to the regeneration and economic life of Littlehampton.
Funded in 2004 by SEEDA, Bellway Homes and Arun DC .The project included workshops with local youth groups on designs for railings.
